AVOCADO TOAST

I have been told I am the avocado toast queen.


STEP 01.

Pick the perfect avocado. Make sure to pick avocados that still have their stem attached. When the avo feels ripe, pull out the stem. If it's green, you have a perfect avocado! To avoid browning in avocados, put them in the fridge as soon as they are ripe. If you want to save half an avocado - keep the pit inside the half, slightly wet it (trust me), and place inside a tightly sealed container/bag in the fridge.



STEP 02.

Pick the perfect base - most commonly it will be bread. All breads are perfect, but my favorites are sourdough & the brand Food For Life bread. Remember to triple toast the bread, it is the best way.


If you're feeling fancy, try these other bases:

- english muffins

- bagels

- roasted sweet potato

- rice cakes (the thin ones are especially tasty)

- roasted eggplant



STEP 03.

Mash your perfect avocado in a separate bowl. Add any seasonings you like. Mix together.

My favorite seasonings:

- salt & pepper

- lemon or lime juice

- Everything but the Bagel from Trader Joe's

- lemon pepper

- onion salt

- garlic powder

- onion powder

- tajin

- cayenne

- red chili flakes



STEP 04.

Spread the avocado mixture onto your base. Add any toppings you like.


My favorite toppings:

- cucumber

- tomatoes

- red onion

- arugula / other mixed greens

- radishes

- hot sauce (the brand Siete is the best)

- layer of pesto or hummus (I usually put this under the avo spread)
